CrimeWatch, recently launched in Fishers, Indiana by Auri’s Ideas, is an app and web service bringing officers and citizens together to report crime before it happens. Citizens use a simple iOS and Android app to choose what’s happening, where it’s happening, and optionally include a photo. Within 15 seconds, the incident appears on a map in front of an officer in their vehicle. Upon responding to the call, the citizen receives an email with the call result. Citizen information is provided for two-way communication between officer and citizen. The app was designed by a resident of Fishers and an officer, looking to improve public safety, making sure officers have the information they need before they get to the call. Over 2,200 citizens have downloaded the app in Fishers. The software is available for other agencies.
